Water Management and Erosion Control Project
This project is a upland water management & erosion control project that combines a diversion with water storage capacity, and a controlled underground outlet system to capture and slow down stormwater so it can leave the site in a non-erosive manner. This project addressed a 1,600 ft long flow path that was eroding at a rate 64 tons of soil lost per year, creating a major gully in the farm field. There were also several surface inlets with underground outlets installed below the diversion site to help control some smaller concentrated flows of water volumes that were located below the diversion site. This project has a total estimated soil savings of 96 tons of soil saved per year. This project was initially intended to be a longer diversion, but without significant water volume storage. After being awarded NYS EBM funding, we also received federal funds that were able to be used as match for the project and we were able to modify the diversion it to have a larger underground outlet system and a larger water retention capacity than originally was planned for this site.
