Barnyard Runoff Management Project
The Barnyard Runoff Management Project was designed to provide full capture of manure
on the livestock holding area. The project also included the install of a roofwater runoff management systems on the adjacent barn to keep a large volume of clean water off the barnyard. This involved a lot of
cutting and forming into existing concrete pads as well as fabricating many custom concrete
curbs and joints. Some areas needed over 2’ of clean gravel to bring the base elevations up for
concrete. This project makes it possible for the farm to clean the entire barnyard on a twice a
week schedule and all manure is now exported out to several large local crop farms. This project
also created two designated loading buck wall curbs where the manure can be pushed, collected
and loaded without having to enter the actual barnyard with a manure spreader. Having the
barnyard able to be cleaned twice a week greatly reduced manure build up on site.
